What were your expectations when you first started to work on the paper, on the product and with your mentor? Did your experiences meet those expectations? How did they differ? ------ I did not realize how much effort was needed in order to complete this project. At first, I thought I could procrastinate and leave everything for the last second, but I learned that that was not true the hard way.
What problems did you encounter while researching and writing the paper? What was your greatest resource in overcoming these obstacles? ------It was really difficult for me to find information through research. I decided to make my topic more in depth in order to make it more easier on myself. Narrowing my topic down and making it less general really helped in my research for I found much more information and studies that I could use to further my project.
What was the most interesting or surprising information you learned in your research?------I did not realize how beneficial fasting was on the immune system. I found that fasting can improve any condition like cancer which is a deadly disease.
What did you learn about yourself during this project? How will you use what you learned throughout the rest of your life, academic or not? ----- I learned that I did not know how to a project like this. Now that I have done it I will know what to do in the future for similar projects like these will have to be done as I further in my education.
What did the project teach you about the holistic view Islam has for every aspect of our life? ------ Fasting is one of the pillars of Islam. Its obligated on every Muslim, but we don’t look into the benefits it might have on us. Through doing this project I learned that not everything in Islam is just a “you just have to do it” but rather there are reasons behind it and there are benefits
What would you do differently now that you have finished? ------ I wish I started earlier and didn’t leave things for the last second it made the entire year stressful. I should have planned everything out and organized my project from the start rather than trying to get everything organized before turning the project in.
What advice would you give to next year’s seniors about how to achieve success on the senior project? - Do not leave things to the last second -Do not procrastinate - START EARLY - Make sure everything is approved before you start - Plan everything out -Be organized -Know your topic well - If you like your topic you’ll enjoy working on your project
What grade would you give yourself for the project? Give your justifications. -----I would give myself an A for this project. Firstly, this is my first time ever doing a project like this and it was not easy. Even though I turned in a few things past their due date, my project as a whole was done by its due date which is the most important thing. One should be graded for the effort they put into their project. I believe I put a lot of effort in my project to get it not only completed, but completed successfully and satisfyingly.
